Ep #9: Own Your Story

A journey into the profound concept of having a mindset of storytelling.

In a heart-to-heart coaching session with a cherished friend, we delved into the transformative power of crafting our own narratives. This friend,  amid an ongoing cancer diagnosis, shared the essence of her strength—her mindset of storytelling.

We explore the crucial choice of lenses through which we view our lives—tragedy or triumph, victim or victor. The realization is powerful: our experiences don’t define us; it’s how we interpret and tell our stories that shape our journey.

Drawing parallels with my own journey and that of a woman trapped in resentment, we confront the consequences of choosing a lens tainted by anger. Your story is yours to tell, and the stories we’ve been given, whether religious or societal, might not fit the vibrant narratives we wish to create for ourselves.

This episode is a rallying cry for autonomy in storytelling. As I reflect on my own experience and those of my clients, we break free from the shackles of judgment imposed by others. I challenge the idea that someone else should dictate your story, especially when it leads to self-loathing and pain.

Ultimately, the crux lies in understanding the immense power you hold—the right to tell your story exactly as you want to. Embrace it with love and support for yourself, crafting a narrative that uplifts and propels you toward the life you desire.
